The best group fares usually go to groups who ask early — but there is such a thing as too early. Airlines only load group inventory for dates within their schedule, and some will not quote more than a few months out. Here is a realistic guide.
Domestic trips
For domestic routes, asking 6 to 10 weeks ahead works well for most groups. For peak periods, start earlier.
International trips
For international group travel, 3 to 6 months ahead gives time for both fares and visas. Umrah and long-haul trips benefit from even more lead time.
Indian peak seasons that fill up first
- Diwali and Chhath — especially routes into Bihar, UP and eastern India.
- Christmas to New Year — Goa, Kerala, Dubai, Thailand.
- Wedding season (roughly November to February) — Udaipur, Jaipur, Goa and destination-wedding cities.
- Summer school holidays (May–June) — hill destinations, Srinagar, Leh, and international family trips.
- Long weekends — short-haul leisure routes from metros.
Why not book a year ahead?
Airlines publish schedules season by season. Far-out dates may not be open for group quotes yet, and flight timings can change before you fly. When you ask too early, we note your trip and request the quote as soon as the airline opens it.
Quick answers
Can I get a group fare for next week?
Often yes, though choice is limited and full payment may be due immediately. Call the desk for urgent requests.
Are group fares cheaper in the off-season?
Usually, because flights are emptier. Off-season group fares are often close to or lower than public fares.
