Goa is the most requested leisure destination on our desk — offsites, bachelor trips, college reunions and weddings. The first question we ask is always: where in Goa are you staying?
Dabolim (GOI) or Mopa (GOX)?
| Airport | Location | Better for |
|---|---|---|
| Goa International, Dabolim (GOI) | Near Vasco, central-south Goa | Panjim, south Goa beaches (Colva, Benaulim, Palolem), Margao |
| Manohar International, Mopa (GOX) | North Goa, near the Maharashtra border | Anjuna, Vagator, Morjim, Arambol and North Goa resorts |
The two are roughly 60–70 km apart. If your hotel is in Calangute or Baga, both are workable — compare flight times and fares.
Seasons
- Late December to New Year: the busiest week of the year. Request fares at least 2–3 months ahead.
- October–March: peak season with good weather.
- June–September: monsoon. Many beach shacks close but fares are lower — good for budget offsites.
From where
Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune all have frequent flights to Goa. From smaller cities a connection through Mumbai or Bengaluru is common; keep connections on the same booking so the airline is responsible if the first flight is late.
Quick answers
Which Goa airport is closer to Baga and Calangute?
Both are usable. Travel time to Baga is broadly similar from either airport, so choose based on flight timing and fare.
When should we book group flights for New Year in Goa?
Ideally by early October. Seats on the last week of December sell out quickly.
