Andaman group trips: flights to Sri Vijaya Puram (Port Blair)

The flight is only half the journey. Ferry timings decide which flight your group should take.

By the AirRJ Group Desk · Updated 4 Nov 2026

All commercial flights to the Andaman Islands land at Veer Savarkar International Airport (IXZ) in Port Blair, which was officially renamed Sri Vijaya Puram in 2024. Most groups then take a ferry to Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) or Shaheed Dweep (Neil).

Plan flights around ferries

Ferries to Havelock usually run in the morning and early afternoon. If your flight lands late, you will spend the first night in Port Blair. That is not a bad thing — the Cellular Jail light and sound show is worth an evening — but plan for it.

Direct flights

Direct flights operate from cities such as Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru. From elsewhere, expect a connection.

Season

October to May is the main season. The monsoon (roughly June–September) brings rough seas and ferry cancellations.

Baggage

Ferries have their own baggage limits, sometimes lower than the airline's. Pack light.

Quick answers

Is Port Blair the same as Sri Vijaya Puram?

Yes. Port Blair was renamed Sri Vijaya Puram in 2024. The airport code remains IXZ.

Airline group rules differ by carrier, route and season, and they change. Treat this guide as a planning aid — the fare rules written on your AirRJ quote are what apply to your booking.

Travelling with 10 or more people?

Send us the route, rough dates and head-count. A Group Desk executive will come back with airline options, the fare validity and the date by which names are needed — usually the same working day.
