Thailand group trips from India: Bangkok, Phuket and the visa question

Two Bangkok airports, direct flights to Phuket, and entry rules for Indian passports that have changed several times recently.

By the AirRJ Group Desk · Updated 4 Nov 2026

Thailand is a favourite for bachelor trips, college groups and incentive tours. It is short-haul, good value and well connected to Indian cities.

Bangkok has two airports

Suvarnabhumi (BKK) handles most full-service airlines; Don Mueang (DMK) is used mainly by low-cost carriers. Check which one your flight uses — they are about an hour apart.

Direct to Phuket

Several Indian cities have direct flights to Phuket, which saves a connection if your group is heading to the beaches.

Entry rules

Thailand has run visa-exemption and visa-on-arrival schemes for Indian passport holders in recent years, and the terms have changed more than once. Check the current rule with the Royal Thai Embassy before you book.

Season

November to February is the most pleasant. April is hot and also Songkran (Thai New Year) — fun, but busy.

Quick answers

Which Bangkok airport is better for groups?

Whichever your airline uses. Full-service airlines mostly use Suvarnabhumi (BKK); budget carriers often use Don Mueang (DMK).

Airline group rules differ by carrier, route and season, and they change. Treat this guide as a planning aid — the fare rules written on your AirRJ quote are what apply to your booking.

Travelling with 10 or more people?

Send us the route, rough dates and head-count. A Group Desk executive will come back with airline options, the fare validity and the date by which names are needed — usually the same working day.
